Changes

So as you can see I have been playing around with my template a little. Mostly to see what it would look like. The Doc hates the marquee feature. I am curious about what others think. So let me know. I was having fun so you won't hurt my feelings if you don't like it.

Dearly beloved are you listening?

Those of you who know me - realize my tendency to use superlatives for EVERYTHING!! I try not to do it anymore after I told I.A. that Stir of Echo's was the BEST movie ever and he saw it and was disappointed. I also stopped making recommendations after I told I.A. that he just HAD to see Napoleon Dynamite and he was again disappointed. Well I decided to make an exception today...Green Day's American Idiot is the BEST CD EVER!!!

GO OUT AND BUY THIS CD!!! It is pretty much my favorite CD. Every song on this disk is good and unlike SD I even like the "and don't wear it out" line. Unless you hate Green Day I will be surprised if you don't agree that it is by far one of the best albums out there.

A Good Game and A Free Hat!

Saturday night the Doc and I went Virginia to visit with Ben and Robyn and to go watch the Washington Nationals play Toronto at RFK in DC. The tickets cost us 15 bucks and even though we were up at the top we were right behind home plate and had a fantastic view of the entire ball park. The only bad part was I had to watch Jose Guillen (who is on my fantasy team) suck it up. Before that he had been on a multi-hit hitting streak.

Interesting fact about RFK - they let you bring in water and food (just no drinks) so you can buy a $2 hotdog outside bring it in instead of paying the $4 inside. They were also giving out free hats (see picture*). It was a good time, game was fun and one can never complain about getting a free hat - but the best part of the night (since I had no vested interest in either team) was dinner at La Lomita Dos (a fantastic Mexican restaurant on Capital Hill. Best Sangria I have ever had. I highly recommend the Beef Chimichanga. So next time you venture to DC make sure you stop in. Since it is on Capital Hill it is completely deserted on the weekends so there is no waiting!

*faces have been changed to protect the innocent!

Daytime Television:

Well for the last four years I have been working a typical 8 hour day. For the past three weeks I have been been home becasue I relocated to Philly. I have a job lined up now but I don't start until the 5th of July. Can I even begin to tell you how mindless daytime TV is. Not that primetime is much better but well yeah it is. I am watching GMA like I used to before going to work everyday and there was a commercial for the upcoming programming on ABC - they told me to tune into the Tony Danza Show at 10am.

This guy - Who's the Boss's Tony Danza has a daytime talk show. I remember hearing something about it a while back but I am a little surprised that he is still on the air. With quality programming like this on day time television what the hell am I getting a job for??!! And I have been wasting my time watching old reruns of Rosanne (back before the show got weird - when it was actually funny)

Mandarin House

The best chinese food this side of the Mississippi. It is so good that I would eat here everyday if it wouldn't make me fat. So those of you who know me - know I don't eat chinese food unless Charlie really wants it and even then I would usually order something else. So if that isn't a good review of a restaurant - I don't know what is...

Not to mention - it is really cheap and you get free crab rangoon when you spend 20 bucks. Hmmmmm crab rangoon. So if your in Philly and you want some good cheap chinese food - I am talking $4.95 for the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce lunch speical (served with Pork Fried Rice and choice of soup or a soda) You can't even get a McDonalds Extra-Value meal for that price anymore - go to the Manderin House located on W. Girard Street in Fishtown!

*Oh Boy:

So funny story about moving to Philadelphia:

I am now a registered voter in the great state of Pennsylvania. Like NH I think my vote will be desperately needed here because I just recently realized that this guy is Rick Santorum:

So I had seen this pantywaist on TV but didn't put two and two together...

My first run in with this pantywaist was on the The Daily Show With Jon Stewart I had forgotten just how much of a pantywaist he was until I found this sound-bite check it out if you want it's funny (CTRL F and type in Santorum - it's towards the bottom).

This is one of my favorites I got this from (you guessed it the daily show)

March 2, 2005
"Senator Byrd's inappropriate remarks comparing his Republican colleagues with Nazis are inexcusable. These comments lessen the credibility of the senator and the decorum of the Senate. He should retract his statement and ask for pardon." --Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

May 19, 2005
What the Democrats are doing is "the equivalent of Adolf Hitler in 1942 saying, 'I'm in Paris. How dare you invade me. How dare you bomb my city? It's mine.' This is no more the rule of the Senate than it was the rule of the Senate before not to filibuster." --Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) - actual quotes copied from http://politicalhumor.miningco.com/

Oh I am sure there will be plenty more on this topic - and I thought Charlie Bass was bad.

Can't Sleep - Decided to Blog:

So I freinquently visit a site called Shamus's Issues. His latest post "Don't Say You Weren't Warned" got me thinking again about how stupid people really are. Now if you spill hot coffee on yourself and you get burned - what did you really think was going to happen? How is it that some dumbass women iback in 1994 was awarded 2.9 million dollars becuase she spilt it on herself? I found an archive article here if you wish to read up on it.

It's coffee - it is supposed to be hot - I would be pissed if it wasn't and guess what when something is hot it's gonna burn - how mentally incapacitated does one have to be to need a warning label explaining that it's hot and it could burn if you spill it on yourself. I read a forward once in college about how stupid people should have to be forced to wear a sign. I think I will write my senetor Rick "The Pantywaist" Santorum* and see about making that a new law. I also have friends in Law School right now - what would they have to say about all this?

If Wilbanks gets a book for cold feet and 81 year old women gets 2.9 becuase hot coffee is hot - I think I am in the wrong business.

There I feel a little better now...thanks Shamus for the laugh at the expense of mankind.

I got the Job!

I got the job! I will be working for Independence Blue Cross. I start on July 5th! My official job title is Accounts Payable Associate II (yeah whatever that means). Basically issuing checks and creating logs, stop payments, etc. I am really excited to start because I won't be sitting around here watching the same old reruns on TV.

I would like to thank all the little people who helped me along the way!!

Runaway Bride Gets Mo' Money:

Only in America can someone make up a cock-and-bull story about why they skipped their wedding and then land a $500,000 movie-book deal, followed by a sit-down prime-time interview with Katie Couric. Tonight: The proof.

Couric's much-primped We-Didn't-Pay-for-This-Interview Interview lands on "Dateline NBC" (8 p.m., NBC/4) with more outtakes on tomorrow's edition of "Today." Will the Jennifer Wilbanks confessional never end? Not in this calendar year. ReganBooks (which is not, apparently, owned by NBC) will put out the Runaway Bride tell-all book sometime within the year, while you can reliably expect the NBC movie of the week sometime in the fall (say, November sweeps?).

So in light of this news here is my new plan: Screw getting a job - I am going to run away and not tell anyone where I am going. Maybe buy a bus ticket to Cheyenne hang out in the wilderness for a couple days and make all my friends and family worried sick over me; have them searching for me for at least a week. After that week has passed I will call the Doc crying and sobbing because the bad man took me away and he wants money. When the police find me and realize that I made it all up I will cry nervous breakdown from the move and the fact that the Doc has to work so much now and I am all alone in the big city. Boohoohoo. Then after I appear in court and get my community service time sentence - I will call up Diane Sawyer (who in my opinion is much better than Katie Couric) and get MY prime time interview and get my 500k for my book/made for tv movie deal. I think I would like Kirsten Dunst to play me in the movie and Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale will all play the role of the Doc.

It worked for her so why not me - I mean I could use the 500k. With that money I could blog all day long! On a different rant - how tight does a man's balls have to be in a sling to marry a crazy psycho such as the above mentioned crazy psycho?

First Philly Job Interview!

Today at noon I have my first job interview. I will say no more - I don't want to jinx myself and I really need a job - I am so bored out of my mind - I feel like I may lose it soon!

In any case send me a happy thought!

Fun with Netflix!

So I have signed up for Netflix. I figure with all the money that the Doc and I sent on movie rentals while in Lebanon it would be in our best interest to sign up for this really cool program.

If your a movie freak such as myself - it is really cool. They let you rank movies then the recomend movies and you just add them to your queue. I can't wait to get my first movie. It is going to ship tomorrow! Yippy!

America - F*ck Yeah!

The Doc and I watched Trey Parker & Matt Stones newest creation Team America World Police last night. I am always amazed by the spin they put on all the issues in today's society. Poor Sean Penn - it is too bad he turned into a giant douche. In any case I don't think I ever laughed so hard in a movie than the end of this one! Click here if you would like to read the quote (it is the first one by Gary) but I would recommend actually watching it and seeing it in context.

Matt Damon!

Supposed to be looking for a job:

I am supposed to be job hunting right now - but there is a beeping noise coming from somewhere in my house - it goes off every 5 minutes. I shall investigate and keep you posted.

My Lifelong Dream to Marry a Doc:

So apparently all I ever wanted to do when I grew up was marry a doctor. Saturday June 11, 2005 - that dream came true. I am officially a doctors wife. May I never have to work a day in my life again and be waited on hand and foot....

Oh who am I kidding. He's a newbie - a scrub - a peon. I still have to wait through long hours of call and another 7 years before he rakes in the dough. I suppose that means no house in the Hamptons for at least 10 years.*

*Disclaimer - I suppose for the sake of those who don't know me I should tell you the above statement is a joke and I am extremely proud of CD - he worked really hard* to get where he is today and he gets to prove it when he starts out with Liquid Tumors and on call the very first day.

*Disclaimer in the disclaimer - Rob and I.A. know that when I say worked hard I mean studied after friends at 11:30pm night before exam.

Princess Sophia Joins the Bandwagon:

I have just been informed by I.A. that I need to put on a movie quote for people to guess. This is probably really easy but I like it anyway:

Here goes:

"I just said we'd make it across. I didn't say anything about the wheels staying on."

Make your best guess.

Still unpacking:

Moving sucks - we are still unpacking - I have the worst cold ever - I feel like a freight trane ran me over and I have boxes everywhere.

However - the good things are:

(1) I was able to do two loads of laundry w/o needing quarters or leaving my house

(2) I have central air and have already gotten great use of it. My car temp gauge said it was 102 yesterday....blech.

All Packed and Ready to Go:

Wish us luck - CD and I head to Philadelphia tonight and sign on our new house tomorrow. By noon tomorrow I will be a homeowner. It is still hard to believe - I am like a grown up now. Weird.

Since our house is in the city - I won't have to worry about weeds like I.A. - they're watching you.

Although you probably don't have to worry until they grow into animal shapes and start chasing you around.
