David's 3 Year Stats!

I just realized that I never posted David's stats from his 3 year check up. He had his appointment on the 11th and he is:

Height: 37 inches - 30th percentile
Weight: 31 pounds - 45th percentile

Still a little shorty! But otherwise healthy and happy and that is what is important. In a few weeks he'll be starting pre-school. I can't believe how fast he is growing up! Since he has mastered the uppercase letters of the alphabet we decided to see how he would do with lowercase letters, and he is doing pretty well, though still confusing some that look similar like "f" and "t". We have also bought some "homework" books like tracing letters, lines and shapes as well as a book about showing the US States (part of our BumbleBear project). Every night before bed he'll ask to do his homework! He is really going to love school!

Check out David in his new hoodie he got from Aunt Karen on Tuesday! He has pretty much worn it all day since he got it. Guess he doesn't care that it's 80 degrees outside!

Golfing!

Last year when we were on the Cape we took David mini-golfing at Pirates Cove for the first time. He did OK, but most of the time he would just put the ball up by the hole and hit it in.

What a difference a year makes! This year he understood how the game worked! He did a great job and he even almost got a hole in one!

He is such a big boy now!

The Rock Beach & Treasure!

Yesterday was a low key day, breakfast in town in the morning and then some walking around. We came back and David, Maddie and I painted the kids picnic table. David did pretty well considering it was the first time he's done that. After that we had lunch and then it was time for naps! Finally some peace and quiet.

After naps and some more home improvements that even had the Doc helping with the assembly of Ben's new snow plow, we sat outside while the kids played in the sandbox and ran around. Once the *big* boys were done playing with the snow plow we decided to take a walk to the end of the street where they have access to a Rock Beach. Like our Short Beach, they can only go during low tide. Now when I say access I mean a very step dirt path that requires a rope to hold on to in order to reach the bottom. That was interesting with 5 kids under 3 and under.

The Rock Beach was very cool, we found all sorts of treasures like sand dollars and starfish. Ben even found a baby crab.

Maine or Bust!

Tuesday night we packed up the car and headed north to visit the Mailloux's at their new home in Maine! It is nice having them in New England. While it's still about a 3.5 hour drive to the middle of nowhere, it beats the 7 hour drive (that seemed to last forever) to Rochester and the horrible traffic we sat in to visit them in DC!

The house is great and they have already made a lot of great improvements. The boys have really been enjoying the HUGE playroom they have here. I can't wait to have a place where the boys can go play!!

Wednesday morning we headed to one of the small beaches nearby as it was so hot (even in northern Maine). David is so used to going to the beach now he just ran right into the water, which was a LOT colder than our beaches! Yesterday we took a day trip into Bar Harbor. It was a gorgeous day, hot but not humid! We walked to a small park to have a picnic, had ice cream at the Udder Heaven, to visit a friend from high school (her parents opened the shop) and drove up to the top of Cadillac Mountain for some really gorgeous views!

Today was a low key day with a trip to the center of town for some breakfast and checking out the local shops and farmers market that was set up. Now it's back to helping with the remodel.

Farewell BumbleBear!

Yesterday we said our goodbyes to BumbleBear and sent him on his way to his next destination, Colorado!! David took it pretty hard but in the end I think he understood that it was time for BumbleBear to have fun with another BumbleFriend.

The night before his departure from Boston we celebrated with a farewell dinner.

Good Night BubmbleBear...get your rest you've got a long journey ahead!

Goodbye! We'll miss you...have fun on the rest of your journey!

This was such a great learning experience this is going to be for David I am so glad we were able to participate.

More Adventures with BumbleBear

After our trip into the city we decided to take BumbleBear to the beach again for dinner on the strip. We ate at Kelly's Roast Beef and I even shared a bite of my yummy roast beef sandwich.

BumbleBear buried in the sand!

Yesterday we took BumbleBear to NH to visit the Old Meeting House. The Old Meeting House is one of the oldest buildings in Sandown and one of the best preserved Meeting Houses in New England. I was going to just do a drive by and take a picture from outside but because it was Old Homes Day the building was open for viewing. Guess it was our lucky day!

BumbleBear!

BumbleBear is my Mommy Board's version of the Flat Stanley Project. He is going to be traveling all over the US and Canada for a sort of pen-pal project and a way for our 3 year olds to learn about other places in the world.

BumbleBear started out in WI as that is where the owner of BumbleBear lives! We were the next in line! BumbleBear arrived safe and sound to us yesterday!

So we decided to take him to the beach with us

Then since today was so nice we decided to take him into the city. We rode the T into Boston and took BumbleBear to the Harbor area and Faneuil Hall!

Short Beach!

With the weather being so oppressive I have been taking the boys down to the Short Beach at the end of our street. It's been so great finding this beach access. Now we don't have to worry about beach traffic just to spend a half hour playing in the sand!
