Happy Halloween!

I just love Halloween.  It's even more fun now that the boys are older!  The last few years we have gone as a theme (Toy Story and Star Wars) but this year they each wanted to be their own thing.  Because this is probably the last year that Evan will let me choose, I wanted him to be this adorable gnome.  Thankfully he LOVED it and I'm pretty certain this is my all time favorite costume.  And Shaun was the Pillsbury Dough Boy one year!

This year Evan was old enough to really enjoy the festivities and even made it around the entire neighborhood for trick or treating!  Our Halloween celebration started last Saturday down in Revere at our old rec center.  It was so much fun and amazing to see how much all the kids have grown up!

Evan as Gnomeo - the Garden Gnome!
Shaun as Captain America
David the Grave Digger
At the Revere Recreation Halloween Party
Getting Halloween tattoos!
Shaun & Evan in the trick or treat line!
On Sunday we had our friends over to have an impromptu Halloween celebration, the kids had fun decorating a spider cupcake and making a pumpkin ornament.

Happy Halloween!
Tonight we had our city trick or treat.  Our neighborhood is always packed with people and many houses go all out with their decorations!  Last year we noticed (thanks to the foot of snow!) that people were coming up to our door even though our lights were off, so this year I decided to leave a bowl of candy outside.  By the time we got home the bucket was empty, so hopefully people were respectful and only took a few.

Our candy bucket!
We are all ready to go!
Shaun was very excited to get going!
Evan showing me what a big boy he is!
David LOVED all the cool Halloween decorations!
One of the cooler houses on the block!
The BEST house on the block!  They always go all out!
Checking out the loot and getting to eat some!
I am already looking forward to next year.  Still hoping that someday we'll get to do Harry Potter but David has already declared that he wants to be Captain Underpants next year!  I think we'll have to see about that!

Project 365 - Day 305

The boys all ready to go trick or treating! Considering that the predicted forecast called for a windy stormy night, we really lucked out! It could not have been more perfect, unlike last year when we had to trek out foot of snow!!  The boys had a blast and all three of them made it around the neighborhood this year! Evan was adorable and even made up a little song to sing:

Trick or Treat
Halloween
Give me something to e-eat!

He was trying to sing the "smell my feet" version but couldn't remember that lyric! Happy Halloween, we hope you all got lots of great candy!

Project 365 - Day 304

Our school district had school today, unsure of what the weather would hold David went to school prepared with his new frog umbrella that he got at the Revere Halloween party.  I didn't realize he grabbed it until I saw him walking up from the bus stop this afternoon!

Project 365 - Day 303

This morning the boys and I packed up all of our Halloween decorations in preparation for the high winds from hurricane Sandy. It made me sad to take everything down so I left my ghosts hanging on the porch. Before it got too dark I opened the door to watch the wind and saw these ghosts eerily flailing about.

Project 365 - Day 300

Since I am in the pool with Evan during his swimming class, it is rare that I get a picture of him swimming. He finally went in with his teacher while I was getting Shaun dressed (who swims in the class before Evan's). Normally he waits for me to be finished. So I was glad to have my camera ready to snap a few pictures before joining Evan in the pool! He's doing bunny hops with his teacher.

Project 365 - Day 293

Tonight was the Mill Brook Schools first movie night! We featured The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.  The kids got to wear their jammies and bring a blanket.  It was a lot of fun and we are already looking forward to the next one!

Project 365 - Day 292

Shaun is starting to read and it's really fun to see him enjoying books so much.  This is the same kid who every night after lights out, grabs his flash light and picks up a book to look at just like his Daddy used to do!

Project 365 - Day 289

Working on more lighting.  Evan always wants to "say cheese" but he doesn't always stay where I need him to!  This time he listened and I thought the reflection on the table was a pretty cool visual!

Today I had the pleasure of photographing a friend and her family.  It was a gorgeous day, we really lucked out!  Thank you Mother Nature from giving us a break from the dreary rain!

I love photographing the boys when they have no idea I have the camera in my hand!  Eating some ice cream that Daddy picked up on his way home from the airport!

Project 365 - Day 281

Charlie ran in the Boston Half Marathon today for the fourth time. Each race he says he's peaked and yet each race he continues to improve! Though he's pretty confident that this time he really did peak for this race at least, this is a lot tougher course than the Covered Bridge Half Marathon he runs in June.

This year the boys and I found our way over to the mile 13 marker, so not quite the end but a great view of Daddy coming into the final stretch.  He wasn't expecting us to be there so he didn't see us (last year we were up in the stadium) but he said he thought he heard someone screaming "Daddy!!" but he was hauling so it wasn't like he could turn back to look!

We saw his time at mile 13 1:23:50 and I was sure he was going to beat his time from last year (1:27:17), but not so sure he was going to beat his best time of 1:25:01 but we would have to wait until we found him at the meeting place because we didn't get to see him cross the finish line.  Turns out not only did he beat his time from last year by almost THREE minutes, but he beat his best overall time finished at 1:24:25!  We are so proud!!  Way to go Daddy!!

Project 365 - Day 280

Shaun & Delaney's soccer teams played each other today.  They apparently weren't feeling it, and decided to get their Zen on by doing a little Yoga instead.

Project 365 - Day 278

The Red Maple's new home, and I LOVE it!  Next year we'll revamp the walkway and redesign the flower garden and all traces of the previous owner will be gone!

Project 365 - Day 277

Tonight Charlie cut down the last 2 trees that were out front. Tomorrow, unless it's pouring, I suppose!) the landscaper is coming to move the Red Maple tree from in front of the house and into that spot where the oaks were. I'm really excited to not have any trees right in front of our house anymore.
