Shaun is really starting to show off his personality. He is very demanding at times, but also very silly. He loves to blow raspberries and smile at anyone who even gives him even an minute of their time. Recently, he started moving himself around. First it started with him pivoting while sitting on his mat, and now he is starting to push himself backwards while lying on his belly. I think we'll be seeing him crawl in the not so distant future. I could be wrong though, I mean I was sure he would have had a mouth full of teeth at this point (he has been drooling like a dental patient who had too much novocaine since he was 4 months old).
Looking more and more like a big boy!
Showing off his smile!
Taking a nap.
All clean after tubby time!
Playing with his big brother and being silly!

All I Could Do was Laugh:
So David is just a riot. I know I have said this before, but this story proves it. We were in Target yesterday (I know big surprise there) and walking down the aisle with the baby food. Shaun was sitting in the front of the shopping cart and David was walking along beside me. I was looking at the various flavors of jar mush to feed Shaun for the next week when David yells really loud - "MOM, I JUST FARTED!!"
I just laughed to myself and said, "that's nice David" and continued grabbing different jars of baby food. It didn't even phase me because this is his latest milestone (if you want to call it that); announcing to the world when he passes gas. But then he caught me off guard when he yelled "EXCUSE ME".
It was at that moment I realized we were not alone in the aisle when I heard the lady at the other end start cracking up. All I could do was shrug my shoulders and laugh along with her.

Snow (and lots of it!)
I have to admit that I am impressed by all the snow that has fallen so far this winter and it's only mid-January! That being said, I love it!! I love looking outside (from the comfort of my warm & toasty living room) and watching the snow fall. It's so pretty the morning after a snow storm and the trees are all covered in white! Since we spent the previous three winters in Philadelphia, we didn't really see much snow. Now that we are back in New England, I made sure that David was prepared with his first pair of snow boots and snow pants.
David has been having a blast playing in the snow, helping Daddy shovel the driveway and sledding at his Grammy and Papa's house.
Here is David watching the very first snow fall this winter:

First time Sledding with his buddy Jesse:
Getting bundled up to play outside with Savanah and Little John:
More sledding!
Ready for more!

7 Months...time is flying!
So here we are, another month gone by and our Shaun is 7 months old. Time is really flying. He is so different than David in so many ways that we sometimes feel like first time parents all over again.
He has been eating solid foods for about two months now, loving all the yummy flavors he gets to try. With David, I would have been happy if he ate 1/2 a jar of baby food - Shaun eats TWO jars!! We have begun to slowly introduce him to the stage 3 foods that have more textures to them to get him to learn about chewing. We have also started giving him the teething cookies, though not very often as they are SO messy.
He has a couple new milestones. He has recently started to try to wave hello. He can stand and balance himself up against a toy or the couch longer before falling on his bum. He blows raspberries and started saying Ba-ba-ba. However, the greatest milestone, at least for me, is that he officially sleeps through the night! His older brother David didn't do that until almost 9 months old! He does have some nights where he wakes up for a minute and we'll go in to help him locate his binky, but then he goes right back to sleep again.
Here are some pictures of our little man taken today:

Auld Lang Syne
Happy New Year! I can't believe that another year has gone by and we are beginning a new one. Many people are inclined to make a New Year's Resolution, myself included. It's generic; but I am with the millions whose resolution is to get in shape. A new year is also a good time to make some changes and try new things.
It's been over a week now that David has not needed to use his binky. I thought it may be a fluke, at first as he was very attached to his binkies. He always had to have AT LEAST three binkies to sleep at night; one in his mouth and one in each hand. I was beginning to become concerned by the fact that he was chewing on them and that he could choke on the broken pieces. It was surprisingly very easy to wean him from his beloved binkies, and he hasn't asked for them since. They have now been replaced with a stuffed Mickey and stuffed Donald Duck, but at least I no longer have to worry that he may choke.
David's New Year's Resolution:
Be a good big brother to Shaun
Help out around the house!
Shaun has also started to try new things. We introduced him to the sippy cup. I put some juice in the cup to see what he would do. He seemed to like it but needed help holding the cup. He has only had a handful of bottles so holding onto the cup was a new experience. The other adjustment was to how fast the juice came out of the cup; the flow was so much that most of it ended up on his shirt. But since practice makes perfect we'll keep letting him try to figure it out!
He is getting so big. When I am not wearing him in the ERGO at the store or supermarket he is big enough to ride in the shopping cart now. Check out our big boy in the Target cart!
Shaun's New Year's Resolution is to start sleeping through the night! However, thanks to Dr. Ferber, he is sleeping much better! In fact, for the last few nights he woke up only once and only needed help finding his binky before going back to sleep. I am hesitant to say he is officially sleeping through the night yet, but confidant enough to say that we are VERY close!!
So I hope that everyone had a wonderful New Year. I know we did, even though I was sound asleep when the Ball dropped. 2008 was a great year for us and I know 2009 will be even better!
