12M ~ January 2020

Our last day!  We opted to take a late flight home so we could spend some time in the morning at the beach again!

It's 5pm somewhere!

View of our chairs, resort building and pool area from the ocean!

Wide angle view!
It was sad to leave such a beautiful place.  We could not have asked for better weather while we were down there and it was nice to spend time with my ride or die!  I text the Doc daily letting him know how much I appreciated him for taking care of home life while I relaxed on the beach!

Not that it was a giant mess when I left, but it was spotless when I returned!

Going out for breakfast is one of my absolute favorite things to do.  I was so glad we made time on this trip.

Brunch at EJ's Bayfront Cafe
Cheers!
After breakfast it was time to go back to the beach.  The sun was once again shinning and it would end up being another day where we just stayed on the beach all day!

Swimming in the Gulf of Mexico!
A brunette and a blonde with an unbreakable bond!
After another glorious day at the beach we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner.  We chose to check out Cooper's Hawk Winery.  It was recommended to me by a couple people and their menu looked good!
Gorgeous sunset!

Wine flight!

Even though it's a Winery, I'll stick with my whiskey!

A delicious Manhattan

12M ~ January 2020

I'm a morning person so I got up and walked over to the resort gym to get in a quick workout.  I knew that I would be spending a majority of this trip sitting and relaxing on the beach and eating all the food and drinking all the drinks so it was important to find some time to be active.

We weren't sure what the weather would bring because both our weather apps said windy and party sunny so imagine my giddiness when I walked out from the gym to see the sunshine and blue skies for miles!

I wasn't sure if my friend would be awake so I decided to go explore the resort beach.  Nothing makes me happier than the smell of salt in the air and the sound of the waves.

The quiet beach first thing in the morning!
Shortly after I got to the beach, I got a text from my friend that she was awake and I headed to the cafe to grab some coffee and a small bite to enjoy on our balcony!  It was perfection!

Breakfast view!
We didn't waste too much time with breakfast because our main goal for this trip was to enjoy the beach!  We chose this resort because we would basically be able to walk right onto the beach from the resort.  It really didn't get better than that!

Let the relaxation begin!

Nothing better than reading a book on the beach!
The weather apps had one thing right, the wind!  But that was OK because it was warm - 85 degrees (which is actually unseasonably warm for Florida in January).  The water was cold at first - it was still January after all) but it was refreshing once I got used to it.  And now I can check off swimming in the Gulf of Mexico off my bucket list!

Beach portrait!
With the uncertainty of the weather we had a few different back up plans (like make an appointment at the spa, find some more shopping) but it was so beautiful outside (despite the wind) that we decided to just relax on the beach all day.  While sitting on the beach we researched some places to eat and made a decision to try an Italian restaurant that I had pinned during the early stages of planning.  We forgot about it being a Saturday night and so we ended up with a very early dinner reservation at 4:45pm.   It worked out well because it gave us some time after to explore 5th Avenue!

La Trattoria
If you like pina coladas! In real coconuts!

The humidity is wreaking havoc on my hair!

40th Birthday Trip to Naples, Florida with my ride or die!

We landed in Fort Myers and had a little bit of a snafu with the rental car, but we were not going to let it cramp our vacay style.  We sorted it all out and were ready to roll!  Before heading to the resort we stopped for a quick bite at a pita place and then to Target for some sunscreen (we only brought carry on bags so we were limited in the amount of liquids we could pack).

Rental Car ✔ - Ready to head to our resort!
Palm Trees AND Target!
We got our room key and headed to our room.  I wanted my 40th Birthday getaway to be special so we splurged for the ocean view room and I'm so glad we did!

Not too shabby for us!  Now all we need is a little sunshine!

We had such a late lunch that we weren't all that hungry for dinner an decided on appetizers at the resort bar.  But first we decided to do some exploring and found a very fancy shopping center a little ways north.  We saw some really beautiful homes on our drive only to find out that wasn't even the fanciest beaucoup bucks homes.

After we got back we headed to the bar and found a seat next to the fire!  I ordered some shrimp and a Titos and Soda with lime.  There was live music, a man singing and playing guitar doing Dave Mathews and Coldplay type covers.

Everything was perfect until a group sat down behind us and started smoking!!  We couldn't even believe this was happening.  We asked our waiter if people were allowed to smoke and he answered with "Yes, would you like an ashtray?" Um NO!  But check please!

I get that we were sitting outdoors on a patio, but ew, we were still in a place where we were eating food and because we had an open tab with our waiter we couldn't easily get up and leave.  It was so gross!  And not something we were anticipating because it is not something permitted in good ole New England (even outdoors!)!

We paid the tab and got out of dodge.  It's a shame because I may have been inclined to order another drink and stay to listen to the music.  It was a gorgeous night.  Instead we headed back to the room and just chilled up there until calling it a night.
