12M ~ August 2022

Another Fit4acause Triple Challenge in the books! It was a little different this year, as I am recovering from COVID and two of our kiddos were not home to join us. But we made the best of the day and we love supporting such a great cause. I walked the 3 miles and then did some yoga. That was all my body could handle this year. I'll be back to take on the 10 mile bike ride next year! πŸ’ͺ🏻#strongenough

12M ~ October 2021

David's baseball games were cancelled this morning so we got to surprise Charlie and watch him cross the finish at his half marathon today. He came in 6th overall! πŸƒπŸ»‍♂️

Waiting to surprise Charlie at the finish line downtown!

Another Fit4acause Bike, Run, Bootcamp (and yoga) Triple Challenge in the books for this family. This event raises money for cancer patients and we Ride, Run and Bootcamp in honor of those who are survivors and those who were taken too soon by this awful disease. πŸ’•

Helmet hair - don't care! 🚴🏻‍♀️
This year, due to heel pain, I opted to only ride. I chose to take the 10 mile route to compensate for the lack of running, but was so wrong to think it would be easier, as the course was nice and hilly! 🀣🀦🏻‍♀️ But I did it in 66 minutes-ish (I forgot to start my watch right away).
I also cannot officially compare my last year stats because it's a longer ride but I can say that all those Peloton rides must have paid off as I crushed the first hill that has always slowed me down the last two years! #strongenough πŸ’ͺ🏻

12M ~ May 2021

In April I received the very sad news that my beloved 9Round was closing its doors for good. On Friday I did my last workout there ending my time with 386 workouts. I'm so proud of myself!

I spent some time trying to figure out what would be next for me. I needed to find something that would continue the path to fitness that 9Round started me on, that would also check off all the boxes that 9Round did (convenience, classes whenever, strength and cardio, someone telling me exactly what to do and getting rewarded for achievements!) and so I have now jumped on the Peloton bandwagon.

I have been doing double duty workouts since it arrived on May 4th because I wanted to make sure I would love it and I do. But nothing will replace the trainers and people I met at 9Round and I will forever be grateful for my time there! πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ₯Š

On to the next challenge! 🚴‍♀️ 17 rides done and counting...

When you get your first hit of the season you get to celebrate with Cherry Jerry in a waffle cone at our favorite! πŸ’⚾🍦

1 for 2 with a walk, a single, an RBI and 2 runs. And his team won!

12M ~ September 2020

It's nice to have a friend in the hood to take a quick screen free motor break before getting back online for the rest of the day. 🚴😊

Proud of this one today! He ran the hood loop alone for the first time. Big brothers are doing XC and run every day after school with their teams, so Evan is on his own. He has gym for his special every day and so this morning we made him a playlist on his iPod, he checked in with his teacher and then he was off! He did great and loved being able to listen to some tunes! With all the sitting and screens it's more important than ever to keep them active!! πŸƒ

First XC practice for Shaun.  With school being remote and no theater to participate in, he's trying something new to stay connected to friends.

I did a thing today. 🚴‍♀️ 16 miles. In hilly Hopkinton. Exhausted and sore but feeling proud. πŸ’ͺ🏻That is double the distance of my longest ride. Also Charlie does that distance on foot. πŸƒ I can't even. πŸ˜‚ @ Elm Brook Recreation Area

My 2nd Fit4acause triple challenge! I beat my times from last year! #strongenough πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸƒπŸ»‍♀️🚴‍♀️

12M ~ July 2020

Virtual Rock N Race 5K with the boys this afternoon. πŸƒ‍♀️ Charlie mapped our route in the neighborhood and we beat the rain to get it done! I still hate running but I am definitely in better shape than when I ran it last year. πŸ’ͺ🏻

12M ~ April 2020

Day 7: A song to drive to!

The Doc: Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots
Me: Runnin' Down A Dream by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
David: Robbery by Juice WRLD
Shaun: Don't Stop Believin' by Journey
Evan: Life is Highway covered by Rascal Flats from Cars

These days, when I drive I tend to listen to podcasts or we do Carpool Karaoke Showtunes edition so I had to think about drives from yesteryear. Songs like Rearview Mirror by Pearl Jam, Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall or Jesus of Suburbia by Green Day come to mind. In fact I remember when we lived in PA listening to the entire American Idiot album on long drives back to NH. Garden State Soundtrack was another one I was obsessed with listening to on long drives. But I had to go with Tom Petty, he immediately comes to mind when I think of driving in fact any of his songs would work for this theme!

In remote learning news:
Homeschooling Day 24: I thought they were goofing off when I came upstairs from my workout...turns out it was just Shaun getting some feedback on his writing assignment from his brothers.

Warning shameless bragging post...proceed with caution... πŸ˜‰ Today my gym had a push up challenge and so at every active break in between each round we had to do push ups with a goal of at least 100 by the end of the workout. I finished with 105 and 40 were up on my toes. It's a big deal because a year ago I would not have even been able to do 40 push ups on my knees and so I am feeling pretty proud tonight! And for the record, my arms are now dead. πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ₯Š

Also available to help sort laundry. 😹

Homeschooling Day 3: Whatever David. 🀦‍♀️ As long as the work gets done.

Evan working on some science this morning.  It was an experiment on static electricity. You mix salt and pepper together, rub a plastic spoon on some cloth and place it over the mixture.  The static from the spoon lifts the pepper from the salt.

Homeschooling Day 3: PE with Dad. I make them run this loop every day. They were happy to have Dad home this afternoon to go with them!

Quarantine Homeschool Phys Ed - 9Round style. Thankful that even though my gym had to close, they are able to offer home workouts. I am going to have the boys do them with me! πŸ₯ŠπŸ’ͺ🏻

It's going to be important to keep myself motivated!
Google hangout with friends!
Quarantine movie - Zombieland: Double Tap

Friday night whiskey cocktails with my favorite quarantinee. I'm going to be a really good bar tender before this is over. πŸ₯ƒπŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ Lemoncello Whiskey Sours. Not my favorite but if you like sours this is an interesting take on it.
