12M ~ June 2022

Charlie and David at the start of the CBHM! Charlie is going to run along side with David and help pace him!

13.1 miles of father/son bonding! 🏃🏻‍♂️

Coming in strong at the finish line.  He had enough gas to sprint!

And he lived to tell the tale! 🏃🏻‍♂️
Nice finish for his first time. They both crossed the finish line together at 2:12:54, although the system gave the edge to Dad 🤭....923rd and 924th finishers.
So proud! 🥰

12M ~ October 2021

David's baseball games were cancelled this morning so we got to surprise Charlie and watch him cross the finish at his half marathon today. He came in 6th overall! 🏃🏻‍♂️

PROJECT 12M ~ October 2018

Charlie ran the local 1/2 Marathon again this year.  The boys and I always like to cheer him on at the finish line!

Charlie had a great run today! He was the 14th runner to cross and his time was 1:23:54. Slower than last year and one of his slower runs, but he had less time to train after Reach the Beach and he was hurting at the end. I still think he did AMAZING!

Then that night I headed to see Maroon 5!  It was an amazing night - Adam puts on quite a show!

That moment when Adam looked right at me as he was singing!

52 Weeks ~ 2017: Week 40

Week 40: weekly update includes Charlie's race day and our surprise trip to Walt Disney World!

Sunday October 1st

Today Charlie ran a half marathon.  He usually runs in Boston this time of year but we had a secret trip planned during the event so he decided to run a local race.  The boys and I dropped him off at the start and had enough time to grab some breakfast at a nearby dinner.  We even got to see the start of the race and get a high five after the first mile before we headed to meet him at the finish line!

Breakfast before we head to the finish line!
Ready to cheer for Dad!
It was a gorgeous fall day for a race! This was one of his best races in a long time! He hasn't run this fast since 2014. He came in 9th overall and won 1st place in his age group! Official time was 1:20:53!

Thursday October 5th

Surprise!  We're going to Disney!

Our flight was delayed for 2 hours, so we didn't arrive to our hotel until really late!  It was right to be because we were starting our first day at the Magic Kingdom bright and early!

We made it!

Friday October 6th

At the Magic Kingdom until mid-afternoon and then Epcot for dinner and fireworks!

Small world selfie!
Epcot Food and Wine festival!

IllumiNations at Epcot!

Saturday October 7th

Character breakfast at the Garden Grill at Epcot!  We got to see Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale!

Sometimes they like each other!

Friday June 9th

I went with Shaun on his 3rd Grade City of Concord field trip!  We visited the Concord Group to see the Abbot-Downing carriage, Pierce Manse and the State House.

The boys played in the semi-final game to go to the championship.  Evan got a bunt hit single in this game.  They won 2 to 1 and will be playing in the finals on Sunday!

365 ~ 2016: Day 283

It is Race Day!! It's never rained on us before, but this year both of Charlie's races were in the rain.  But we grabbed our umbrellas and trekked the 1 1/2 to the finish line so that the boys could get their high fives from Dad as he runs through his 13th mile (since we cannot wait at the actual finish line here). I was able to have the results sent via text this year (since he didn't lose his bib this time!) so we know his official times. We'll find out later what he placed overall. He is usually in the top 100. Not his fastest Boston 1/2, but not too shabby for running in the pouring rain!

2016 Boston 1/2 Marathon Race Results:
5 mile: 31:06
10 mile: 1:02:20
Finish: 1:22:00

365 ~ 2016: Day 157

Another 1/2 Marathon in the books.  He was glad to be back after missing the sign up last year.  He came in 8th overall and while he didn't get his best overall time, he still killed it and didn't get injured like he did in Boston.  He also came in first for his age group and got a special commemorative mug!

Official race results are 1:21:07!  We're all so proud and the we braved the rain with their cowbells to cheer him on!

365 ~ 2015: Day 283

It is Race Day!! Another gorgeous day for a race, but there was a black cloud over us this year.  First Charlie lost his race bib.  He tore the house up looking and no luck...my guess is that it got tossed, accidently, into the recyling bin.  So because of that we had to drop him off even earlier so he could get a new race bib, and since they upped the start of the race time to 8am, we had to dorp him off at 7am.

Without his official race bib, we were not able to get the text messages that kept us up to date on his wherabouts.  We had an idea bout what time he would finish so we headed over to the finish line and because we had arrived so much earlier this year we decided try and catch the start of the race and walked over to mile 1.  We saw Charlie and yelled!  He was surprised to see us so early!

We watched for him at the time we thought and didn't see him.  He was behind his normal time but it had been a year since his last race, so I figured that must be why he was behind, but it turns out he injured himself on mile 9.  He finished the last 4 miles with a pulled hamstring.

So while it wasn't his best race, and he is now sporting an injury, he still finsihed with, in my opinion, a great time.  It's too bad he got hurt, because he was on pace to beat his best overall time of 1 hr 19 minutes.

We are still waiting for the official results, but it looks like his time will be around 1 hr 24 minutes.  We are still so proud!  And the boys were happy to get their high fives!

365 ~ 2014: Day 285

It is Race Day!! We had another gorgeous day this year and the boys got their high fives from Daddy as he was about to cross the 13th mile (since we cannot wait at the actual finish line here).  I was able to have the results sent via text again this year so we know his official times.  We'll find out later what he placed overall.  He is usually in the top 100.  While he didn't race his fastest time ever (from his covered Bridges race back in June), he did finish this race faster than last year by almost a minute!

5 mile: 30:36
10 mile: 1:01:29

365 ~ 2014: Day 152

Happy Birthday to Charlie!  One day after his 35th birthday, he ran the Covered Bridges 1/2 Marathon, and beat his personal best time (1:21:40) by almost 2 minutes!!

We sill have to wait for the official results, but the unofficial result is likely 1:19:49, he has already crossed over the finish line at the time in the picture.  Also we think he came in 9th or 10th!  The boys and I cheered him on at the finish line with our cow bells, but due to them rearranging the set up, they weren't able to get high fives!  There is always next year!!

*edited to confirm that 1:19:49 is the official result!
