12M ~ January 2020

I'm a morning person so I got up and walked over to the resort gym to get in a quick workout.  I knew that I would be spending a majority of this trip sitting and relaxing on the beach and eating all the food and drinking all the drinks so it was important to find some time to be active.

We weren't sure what the weather would bring because both our weather apps said windy and party sunny so imagine my giddiness when I walked out from the gym to see the sunshine and blue skies for miles!

I wasn't sure if my friend would be awake so I decided to go explore the resort beach.  Nothing makes me happier than the smell of salt in the air and the sound of the waves.

The quiet beach first thing in the morning!
Shortly after I got to the beach, I got a text from my friend that she was awake and I headed to the cafe to grab some coffee and a small bite to enjoy on our balcony!  It was perfection!

Breakfast view!
We didn't waste too much time with breakfast because our main goal for this trip was to enjoy the beach!  We chose this resort because we would basically be able to walk right onto the beach from the resort.  It really didn't get better than that!

Let the relaxation begin!

Nothing better than reading a book on the beach!
The weather apps had one thing right, the wind!  But that was OK because it was warm - 85 degrees (which is actually unseasonably warm for Florida in January).  The water was cold at first - it was still January after all) but it was refreshing once I got used to it.  And now I can check off swimming in the Gulf of Mexico off my bucket list!

Beach portrait!
With the uncertainty of the weather we had a few different back up plans (like make an appointment at the spa, find some more shopping) but it was so beautiful outside (despite the wind) that we decided to just relax on the beach all day.  While sitting on the beach we researched some places to eat and made a decision to try an Italian restaurant that I had pinned during the early stages of planning.  We forgot about it being a Saturday night and so we ended up with a very early dinner reservation at 4:45pm.   It worked out well because it gave us some time after to explore 5th Avenue!

La Trattoria
If you like pina coladas! In real coconuts!

Cool street artist!
The humidity is wreaking havoc on my hair!
