Project 365 - Day 354

When I saw this tutorial on I Heart Faces about creating a starburst with the Christmas lights, I knew it would be a part of my 365 project. I wanted to have more than just the tree, but because of the super slow shutter speed, even David being as still as possible you will notice some ghosting.  But overall I'm happy with the results and I think it will be fun to continue playing around with before we pack up our tree in a few weeks.

Day 19: {1 Photo – 32 Days} December Photo Challenge ~ Light!

Holiday Potraits

On the first Sunday of December we set out to do our annual Christmas card picture. It is always an interesting experience trying to get the perfect shot without really being able to see what the boys are doing. I won't tell you how many images with tongues sticking out or eyes not looking straight ahead I had to delete. But we got the Christmas card shot and a few others for our walls so I will call it a success (even if it did take a good part of our Sunday!)

The one good shot of all 3 boys together!
The one that made the Christmas card!

Project 365 - Day 353

Yesterday we had a beautiful blanket of freshly fallen snow, today we have slush puddles and ice from the rain. Still holding out hope that we'll get another blanket of snow it time for Christmas.

Project 365 - Day 352

There is something so comforting about this image. The quiet, the dark, the freshly fallen snow and my 6 year old boy taking it all in. When I was taking this shot, we were just goofing around and being silly, he wanted to step out in the snow and I had already had the camera on the tripod testing out a starburst tutorial with my outdoor lights. It wasn't until I loaded it to the computer and pulled it up that I realized just how telling this image really was.

Project 365 - Day 347

Today we celebrated MIL's birthday!  Her birthday was the 4th but we made plans to celebrate today since it was an early dismissal day from school.  We took advantage of the early dismissal and headed to the movies to see Wreck-It Ralph.  The boys had a blast and the movie was great, I would highly recommend it.  After the movie we headed back the house where I made a homemade version of the Olive Garden's Chicken Milanese.  And of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without a birthday treat a vanilla bean cupcake with lemon butter-cream frosting from the New England Cupcakery!

Day 12: {1 Photo – 32 Days} December Photo Challenge ~ Sweets!

Evan Michael ~ Future Superstar

Evan sings all the time.  Takes after his Momma!  He sings in the shower, car, randomly at the dinner table, to help himself fall asleep, when he isn't talking he is probably singing.  I have been trying to get him on video for the longest time, so a few nights ago he found a toy microphone and randomly started singing Train's Hey, Soul Sister and I luckily had my camera handy!

The following night I knew I needed to get a few more of his "songs" on video.  I think he needs to work on his lyrics.  His rendition of Lady Gaga's Poker Face reminded me of one of my first video performances back in the day of Mary Had a Little Lamb, where I sang the same line over and over and over...until finally my Aunt finished the song for me in the background.  In any case, it's pretty darn adorable...if I do say so myself!!

And of course, no video performace would be complete without his version of his favorite song Psy's Gangnam Style.  Hey, Sexy Ladies...

One of the traditions from my childhood, hanging candy canes on the tree.

 Day 10: {1 Photo – 32 Days} December Photo Challenge ~ Stripes!

It's the Holiday Season...2012 edition!

It has been our tradition for as long as we have been living on our own to decorate our house the day after Thanksgiving (or at least as close to the day after as possible!).  We started the Friday after with the boys making their lists for Santa.  Then after the Doc got home from work we started getting all the boxes down and put the tree together.  The decorating would have to wait until Saturday and then finished with the outside lights on Sunday!  Since this is now our second Christmas in this house it was easier since we knew where we wanted everything!  I just love how the house looks when it is all decorated for Christmas!

Letter's to Santa
Evan's Letter to Santa
Shaun's Letter to Santa
David's Letter to Santa
Daddy put the tree together, now Mommy needs to fluff it!
Evan is the perfect tree fluffer helper!
Next morning, stockings are hung and it is time to get the decorations ready for the tree!
Evan wanted to wear the Santa hat while we worked a little outside
Ribbon garland is wrapped around the tree and now it's time to get the star on top
And now it's ready for ornaments!
Evan being really careful not to break them this year...
The boys have their own tree for their special ornaments that they have made over the years.
David concentrates on finding just the right spot!
Picture Perfect!
Cherishing every moment...
...and every memory!

This is the reason we bought this house.  It is just as I imagined it would look in my head when we first saw this house.  This is Day 7: {1 Photo – 32 Days} December Photo Challenge ~ The View from Here...looking down at my tree from the upper level hallway.

Project 365 - Day 340

Today's theme in the I Heart Faces December Photo Challenge is ~ Someone I Love. The who is super easy! Setting up the shot, not so much! After a long, LONG day at work the last thing my "someone I love" wanted to do was pose for a picture! Lucky for me I can be pretty stealth with a camera!  And wouldn't you know I was also able to get my boys (and I love them too, of course!) in the shots!

Project 365 - Day 332

The second annual glowing Christmas Tree picture!  And yes, I plan to do this every year until they move out of my house, and probably even then too!!  Someday they will appreciate all this (or at least they better humor their mother if they don't!).

Project 365 - Day 331

The most wonderful time of the year! I love seeing all the lights this time of year. It makes the fact that it gets so dark so early now that much easier to take!
