Evan - 19 Months
Because we couldn't get an appointment for him last month, on Tuesday, Evan got a 19 month check up! He is doing really well and had a HUGE growth spurt from the last time he was measured and weighed! He has gone from the 20th percentile for his height at 12 months to the 70th percentile! He's talking up a storm now, there are many words that only I can understand, but most of the time other people can understand him too! Right now my favorite is his Merry Christmas - it's ADORABLE and I am going to try and get it on video! He's not interested in being recorded so he tends to make a liar out of me! I am just glad he sang for everyone at Thanksgiving because I haven't been able to get him to do it on video.
Anyway, here are Evan's stats from his check up:
Height: 33 inches - 70th percentile
Weight: 28lbs 12oz - 75th percentile
He is the same height Shaun was and almost 5lbs heavier than David!
And of course, no post would be complete without a few pictures!

25 Days of Christmas - Day 8
Day 8: Christmas lights! I love outdoor Christmas displays and couldn't wait to decorate our house for Christmas this year! I love the look of candles in windows and wreaths on doors, so I knew that would be part of my display. Next year, I would like add something under each garage door light, like a swag. The houses in this neighborhood really go all out, it's awesome!

I Heart Faces / On Your Feet
This week's I Heart Faces challenge is showcasing feet! I was going to try and stage something with my boys this afternoon when I noticed the little guy munching on his toes. He thinks it's funny, especially when I grab his foot and tell him, "yucky stinky feet!" He laughs and does it again!

Day 4: I know it's not exactly Christmas, but today is MIL's birthday and we spent today celebrating with the boys at Imagine That and then the grown ups all went out for dinner! So I am posting a picture of MIL with the boys! Happy Birthday MIL!

25 Days of Christmas Challenge: Day 1
Today is the first day of my made up Christmas challenge. Each day (until Christmas) I'll take a picture to represent all the things I love about this time of year! This first picture, making my tree glow, is something I saw on Pinterest (my new internet time suck) and I couldn't wait to try out. Unfortunately, my boys, are less than enthusiastic or cooperative when it comes to Mommy practicing with her camera, so I often have to resort to bribery. Tonight, I bribed them with candy to be my assistants.
So, yes, this image is totally posed, and while I prefer to "capture the moment" it is a lot harder to do that when you're trying to duplicate a specific technique and you have unwilling assistants. It is the reason I have had to resort to using stuffed animals as models before. Anyway, as it turns out, after re-reading her post, I went about it all wrong! I'm still happy with my image but you don't get the same sense of "glowing tree" in my image.
Here is what I did differently, I was not in manual mode, I was in TV mode (or shutter priority) and I used a lower ISO, a much slower shutter speed (which increased the aperture to f/22) and I spot metered on the boys, instead of the tree. Two things that were the same, were, the room was dark and I didn't use a flash. So with those above settings the end result is this: close, but no cigar!
