The Doc is 28

Today is the Doc's birthday and David and I surprised him this morning with a special birthday card that we made. We also pre-ordered him a copy of Psych - The Complete First Season and four packs of Pentel R.S.V.P fine ball point pens. He lost his last one and he likes using them at the hospital when he needs to write really small and legible!

For dinner tonight I made chicken with a lime & scallion sauce and sweet carrot rice (a Rachael Ray special). It was super tasty if I do say so myself. It was also really easy to make. A true 30 minute meal. After dinner the Doc and I had some cake and ice cream. David had to go to bed so no cake for him. He didn't miss out because the cake wasn't very good. However the ice cream was! I got Edy's Loaded Chocolate Fudge Brownie - it was so freakin' good!

Tonight I let David stay up until Daddy came home so he could share in the birthday celebration. He played with Daddy until dinner was ready and then it was off to bed. So it was a great birthday celebration - well minus the yucky cake! Happy Birthday Doc!

I am a Terrible Daughter/Friend!

Time is FLYING! It's like almost JUNE!! Yikes! That means that I forgot my parents anniversary! My parents were married 29 years ago May 26th and I forgot all about it. Sheesh! I also forgot to give a birthday shout out to J.B. and M.A. (wife to I.A!). They share a birthday which came and went on May 24th. I am just horrible for forgetting...it's on my freakin' calendar too! So anyway enough with the excuses! Here it is - birthday shout out and anniversary shout out!

New Improvements & New Teeth!

So as promised here are some pictures of the newly painted guest bedroom. It's hard to get a feel for the color due to the sun glare but it's called Cool Dusk by Behr. It reminds me of the "blue" version of David's room.

This is the bedroom when we did the walk through of our house two years ago: Yeah I know the carpet is UGLY...we plan to install some pergo in this room too!

Here is the wall half painted. It's the best I can get right now...you can see from the second the sun really affects the picture.

I also figured I would show an update on the Doc's stair project. It looks so much better. He has ripped up the carpet and refinished the wood, stained and painted. I have to say I was pretty impressed! I suppose if this whole Cardiology Fellowship doesn't work out - he could try his hand at some carpentry!

Check out Drew relaxing on the stairs (this was taken when we were working on the living room)

We had to use the step stool for a couple days!

Done with the landing and a new curtain! (again sorry for the bad lighting)

Also Friday night I found two new teeth. David has two upper teeth that have finally cut. I was wondering why he'd been so cranky! It's hard to get a good picture because they literally just broke through the gums and so we had to hang him upside down to get this shot but at least you can see them:

Hooray for Five Guys!

So thanks to the ladies at work I recently found out that we have a Five Guys in center city! Today we decided to check it out. It was just as good as the one in DC! It's a really big place and just like the one in DC they have peanuts at every table!

This really is the best burger that you'll ever have and the fries are not bad either!

David of course didn't have a juicy cheesburger but enjoyed some cheerios and peaches instead.

After lunch we walked over to Love Park. David thought the fountain was super cool. That is until Daddy put his toes in the water...he didn't care for that too much.

And then a nice man offered to take a family portrait in front of the statue that gave the park it's nickname.

It was a nice day even with the 90 degree heat. Since the Doc is on a consult service for the next two weeks he found out that he has tomorrow off with me! He NEVER gets holidays off so were going to continue working on our home improvements. The Doc has been working on the stairs but since he needs special lumber not found at Home Depot and the lumber store has banker's hours we've put that project on hold and instead we're going to paint guest bedroom. Not sure on the color yet but we'll share the before and after pictures!

The Pursuit of Crappyness

Brian had written a movie review about the Will Smith movie The Pursuit of Happyness. We rented it tonight thinking that it could be good. Well, all I have to say is did we miss something? That was the BIGGEST waste of time. And I say DON'T BOTHER. I mean unless of course you like spending two hours watching utter depression for a glimpse of "happyness" via a hug and a knock knock joke. ARGH.

I mean at least it didn't rain frogs...but come on. I came on tonight to re-read the review because the Doc and I couldn't figure it out. When the movie ended I said "Really?" and the Doc said "Yeah it sucked". Now if you'll excuse me - I am going to jump off a bridge now.

It's Clean!

My living room is clean. It's amazing how big our living room looks when you get rid of the JUNK! The weekend before last the Doc and I traveled to DC to participate in a community yard sale with Ben. Not only did we make 145 bucks but we also got rid of a lot of clutter in our house. Hooray!

Check out David enjoying his new play space on the living room floor:

It feels so good to have a clean house. We still have a ways to go but at least the one room we spend the most time in is clean. Any tips to keep it that way are more than welcome!

Now just for fun here are some more cute pictures that I thought I'd share. What can I say - he loves the camera!

Well most of the time!

Cruisin'

We have a mover and a shaker now! David skills at cruisin' are getting better and better each day. Watch him try to get his Bunny...

My Little Pee Wee:

David went in for his 9 month check up today and here are his stats:

Weight: 17lbs 11oz (10%)
Height: 27 inches (10%)

Yup - David is a RUNT! Otherwise he is in tip top shape. He was even a good sport when they had to draw some blood for a routine check and the lady poked him four times before she was able to get anything. She told him he was braver than the teenagers she sees!

He is officially a pro now at sitting up all by himself. He has also started to cruise a little bit and we'll definitely be lowering the crib now that he pulls himself up and shakes the railing. Still no Ma-Ma. What can I say David is a "Daddy's" boy. No matter how many times I tell him "Mommy is the one who takes care of you" he still gets more excited when Daddy comes home.

My Special Mother's Day Picture!

Look what David made for me for Mother's Day. He is such an artist!

He also let me sleep in a little on Sunday - which was really nice since the Doc had to work all day and night.

9 Months & 3 Teeth

Can you believe another month has gone by? I know I can't. Today David is 9 months old! He is getting bigger every day (although still a runt compared to all his new friends!). He now has three bottom teeth and he loves to show them off.
Say Cheese David:

David is becoming more mobile every day. He pulls himself up to a standing position and knows how to sit up by himself when he is on his belly. However, since he is his father's son (lazy) he prefers to be picked up when he ends up on his belly. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to lower his crib in the next couple of weeks. He is also looking forward to trying out Brady's new swing set next month!

Next Thursday is his 9 month check up where he will be weighed and measured. My guess is that he weighs 18lbs even and 26.5 inches long.

What's your guess?

Happy Birthday Kim!

Just wanted to send a birthday shout out to my niece's mommy! Happy Birthday from the cool kids in Philly.
